How to Help » Volunteering » Task Teams

Addresses

This task is to assist in updating and keeping record of our email addresses and locations of volunteers sponsors, and other addresses for our Master Mailing list.

Advertsing

do you know advertising? Or have wanted to learn and practise advertising? We are looking for many Volunteers to help us write, create, complete ads for IHF. The small advertising team hopes to eventually be ready with pre-made, ready-to-go adverts to avoid missed opportunities. We offer you examples of some ads we have had done. *Other Team members can be trying to establish advertising space in publications and online sites. We offer you examples of the emals you can send. You will find our lists of creative (low-cost or free) ways of advertising such as community newspapers, and students newspapers and magazines. Please ad to this list as you can.

Booth display

Volunteers on this team are to set up booths to promote awareness of IHF. You will be provided with posters, brochures and gift sponsorship cards for each type of sponsorship. The goal of a booth is two-fold: 1. To get sponsors, 2. To get new local volunteers and IHF members in that community. This position may involve some expenses in terms of printing out the information sent to you via email, although your first job may be to find local people willing to offer these services for free.

Buildings

The goal of this team is to help IHF centres host guests and channel 100% of the income from their stay into the community. By hosting tourists themselves, the community owns and benefits from their own cultural heritage. The team also oversees the upkeep of IHF centres, which exist purely for the benefit of the poorest of the poor. The team needs electricians, plumbers, agronomists, agriculturalists, carpenters, handymen, architects, engineers and people with other relevant skills. Tasks can be done from home or at centres

Cinematography

The team will be responsible for videoing activities and events at the IHF Centres. They will record Carol's lectures. We also want to establish an investigative documentary team. All relevant skills such as filming and editing are required.

Classes

This team will work with all the other fundraising teams. Specifically, their duty is to make sure that every child and class are sponsored. They will be coming up with sponsor drive ideas and they will be responsible for keeping everyone in IHF updated with how many children need sponsoring.

Orphans Sponsor Drive

The duties of each position will be to send out an email once a week, with the current number of sponsors needed written in the subject line. This is to keep every volunteer focused on how many sponsors are needed. It is irresponsible for us to have any IHF volunteer unaware of the updated sponsorship situation, as it changes weekly.

Task Follow up

This task is working with the other task team members to follow up on volunteers who have been assigned a task and sent instructions. You will go over the spreadsheet filled by the volunteer in the task Placement Task, and send any volunteers a follow up email to check that they have received their instructions and are active on their task. Your duty is also to encourage and thank volunteers for their work. Good inter-personal skills are a plus.

Community Outreach

This volunteer will speak to various civic groups in their community. This team should focus on reaching out to the community, letting them know about IHF and getting them involved. Team members should be seeking different associations, reaching out at various clubs and societies and presenting IHF at the various meetings and events.

International Fundraising

This team will assist the efforts of our volunteers and the various countries they come from to put on fundraisers in their local communities. (Some of these events might be attended by Carol or other members of the alumni, but this is in no way needed to put on these events). one volunteer might choose to put on a social in their community (in a bar, restaurant, home, or anything else) with the goal of that event raise enough money to sponsor one class or orphan for six months, or more. Another volunteer might organise a yearly run for fun and another a musicfeat, or an art gallery fundraiser.

Legal International

The legal team will be researching the many legal issues that IHF faces as an international charity organisation. Seeking the advice and expertise necessary to deal with these issues has proved difficult and expensive and this team therefore is to be made up of lawyers and law students who are willing to investigate these technicalities. Many of these issues are made complex by the need to satisfy both US law and the foreign law.

Team members need to focus on what makes IHF different and make explicit IHF's purity. However, this is not the optimum way of doing things. We therefore, ask that the media team go into the account and look at what's been sent out.
